Simple Ways to Make Dried Flowers at Home
There are many simple ways to make dried flowers at home, depending on your preferences and the type of flowers you want to preserve. Below are some of the most popular methods:
1. AIR DRYING FLOWERS NATURALLY
- Advantages: This is the simplest and most cost-effective way to dry flowers.
- Disadvantages: Flowers may take a long time to dry completely (about 2–3 weeks), and their colors may fade slightly.

Instructions:
- Select fresh flowers that are in good condition and free from damage.
- Trim the stems and remove the leaves.
- Tie the flowers into small bunches or spread them evenly on a tray.
- Hang the flowers in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight with good air circulation.
- Turn the flowers regularly to ensure even drying.

2. USING A MICROWAVE
- Advantages: This method dries flowers much faster (about 1–2 minutes).
- Disadvantages: Some flowers may become misshapen or lose color when dried in a microwave.

Instructions:
- Line a plate with paper towels or absorbent paper.
- Arrange the flowers on the plate, making sure they do not overlap.
- Place the plate in the microwave and dry at the lowest power setting for about 30 seconds.
- Check the flowers every 30 seconds and continue drying if necessary.
- Allow the flowers to cool completely before storing.

3. USING SILICA GEL
- Advantages: This method dries flowers quickly (about 2–3 days) while preserving their color.
- Disadvantages: Silica gel must be purchased separately, although it can be reused many times.

Instructions:
- Pour silica gel into an airtight container with a lid.
- Arrange the flowers inside, ensuring they do not overlap.
- Cover the flowers completely with silica gel.
- Seal the container and keep it in a cool, dry place for 2–3 days.
- Remove the flowers and gently brush away the silica gel.

4. USING CAT LITTER
- Advantages: This method is simple and economical, especially if you already have cat litter at home.
- Disadvantages: Cat litter may stick to the flowers and must be removed carefully after drying.

Instructions:
- Pour cat litter into an airtight container with a lid.
- Arrange the flowers inside, ensuring they do not overlap.
- Cover the flowers completely with cat litter.
- Seal the container and keep it in a cool, dry place for 1–2 weeks.
- Remove the flowers and carefully brush away any remaining cat litter.
